Lindsey Biel, an occupational therapist, will be our guest this week on The Inclusive Class Podcast. Lindsey is the co-author of Raising a Sensory Smart Child, which helps parents, teachers, and professionals work with children who have sensory integration dysfunction. Sensory integration refers to how people process the sensations coming from within the body and from the external environment. For a child who has sensory problems, clothing can feel like sandpaper and walking on an unstable surface can feel like bungee jumping. Classrooms, especially, are environments that can create sensory overload.
On our show, Lindsey will address ways in which adults can create sensory friendly classrooms to help children with sensory dysfunction. Sensory friendly classrooms are also beneficial for other types of learners in the class, so you won't want to miss this interview!
Lindsey Biel has worked in medical, clinical and educational settings. She is a sought after speaker and writer. For more information about Lindsey and her work, you can visit her site at www.sensorysmarts.com.

An excellent show with practical advice that addresses the classroom environment, not child's behavior.
